Notes: They have been known have reached 100 Lbs.


Food Quality

Regulations: 14" to 24" total length, must
remain whole until ashore. 5 per person per day.
May possess one over 24". Harvest prohibited
by or with  the use of any multiple hook in
conjunction with live or dead bait.

 

Catch techniques:

largest member of the drum family; spawns nearshore in winter and early spring;
feeds on oysters, mussels, crabs, shrimp, and occasionally cut fish or squid;
longevity to 35 or more years
